Being referred to as the deepest canyon in the world has its ups and downs. Right off the bat, you get compared to other perhaps more famous canyons like the grand one in the state of Arizona in the United States and then experts from your own country say that the one just a few condor flaps away is deeper. But no matter how you stir the controversy, the Colca Canyon is a magnificent sight even if not so grand as the Grand Canyon nor as deep as neighboring Cotahuasi Canyon. With improved roads from Arequipa, it’s easily accessible and a worthy diversion from the pleasures of one of Peru’s more charming cities. Though a certified tourist destination amongst Peruvians, it retrains much of its local flavor despite what is an increasingly steady flow of gringo travelers. And while it’s not the most spectacular canyon in the world or perhaps even the deepest, it will seem a little bit of both if you make the extra effort to climb to its depths. After climbing the 3400 meters back up, you just might be glad it’s not the deepest after all!

Despite of not being the most spectacular canyon, it must have been a gorgeous trip to Colca Canyon for you. Great info and pics.

It's amazing that so few people go the extra 10 minutes to see the bottom! Outstanding page as always.
