Luggage And Bags: You will need a full size back pack even on a guided trek as you still have to carry your sleeping bag, bed pad and all your warm clothes as well as any snacks you might need.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Water proof gear is essential as this is a cloud forest and it rains a fair amount.
Miscellaneous: We brought out own bed pad as it was a lot more comfortable than the ones they provide.

Photo Equipment: Zoom is good for llama pics but you will have to carry it so remember weight. Bring lots of film, it's an amazing walk with varied scenery. Also, the llamas at Machu Picchu are very photogenic but you will take lots waiting for that perfect shot.

kathymof Wed Jul 23, 2008 16:16 UTC Great comments on Machu Picchu but I don't think the porter thing is just a money grab. The trail was being loved to death by people who were leaving trash and damage behind - the porters help control this. | Makaron Mon Jul 9, 2007 10:03 UTC Great tips. I'm going to do Inca trail in October 2007, so your tips were very useful. | SuperCholo Wed Apr 12, 2006 07:28 UTC Dude! You had how many bers at how many feet of altitude?!?! | thedouglas Sat Feb 11, 2006 12:24 UTC Really enjoyed your Machu Picchu pages - is on the short list. Just a shame the flight is so long from Oz. |
