The Night Before Puno

tradtional garb is a way of life in Puno
Puno is not exactly on the top of the list of cities to visit in Peru for most travelers. Even with its Lake Titicaca residence, it is merely a small market town trying to rise above the rest with its pivotal location. But it is the rare traveler that will not pass through this unremarkable city at some point in their Peruvian transportation experiences unless you fly all over the country or remain in the north of the country. No, with Lake Titicaca at its doorstep and being en route to Bolivia from all points south in the country, you will most certainly find yourself wandering these streets. So, why not make the best of it. There are ample restaurants, some nightspots and a colorful marketplace. You can do excursions out onto Lake Titicaca if you are not going to the Bolivian side or just rest up until you do. Either way, you probably won’t be here long so enjoy a brief taste of Puno.

Can't believe it - gluehwein in Peru.... :-) Looks like a nice spot to visit in Peru, with a bit less crowd than in the other spots !

Hey, you have some wild experiences with busses and Hurricane Juan's! But, as you say, when they are all over they make for great stories!!

Yeah, the buses go fast ONCE THEY GET GOING, which could take all day! (LOL) Memories of Puno: crazy untrimmed topiary everywhere, and a discordant band that marched around the streets playing at 6:00am, and a 9am bus to Yunguyu that left at 3pm

I've been on a few buses with those same bus drivers! Great story! I'm glad you lived to tell it! Puno looks like a little town. I'd love to see a photo of that driver. Cool Page
