I've lived in VA for 9 years now and have yet to go. A renovation was just completed last year so I definitely must go!

Now I want to visit it :-) Thanks for sharing! Update: haha, I visited it in October 2004 and I liked it a lot for many reasons: history, lovely location (hill, views, forest, Potomac River), beautiful gardens etc.

Wasn't Mt Vernon a lot smaller in person than you'd imagined? But it's a neat old home and full of great history, glad you got there for yourself...
