We were in Budapest for a couple of days during a trip through Hungary and although we didn't manage to see everything there is to see we enjoyed the city very much.
Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is a beautiful city and has a population of about 2,000,000; which about one fifth of the country’s population. Budapest is actually a group of citues which includes Obuda, Buda and Pest. It is spread across both sides of the Danube and it contains a wealth of palaces and very impressive public buildings. Pest is located on the river plain and Buda lies on the hillsides

Interesting page Margaret - especially those "off the beaten path" places that I'd never heard of. That coffee shop sounds so tempting too - a bit like the Viennese ones perhaps?
