I worked near Glasgow years ago and have visited many times, but somehow just working near there and visiting seemed to mean that I never took photos etc. We visited again (briefly) in 2001 and on our last trip to Scotland - june 2008 we again spent (a VERY wet) day in the city. We have already decided that we are going back to Scotland next year and another day or so exploring the city will be planned. When I was working in Scotland and visiting in the late 1970's Glasgow had a name as being "rough" and not a very pleasant place to visit but that is not true now. There are wonderful museums, great parks and great shopping and places to eat. Museums are free and there is so much choice across the city. One word of warning - parking is difficult and expensive - much better to go into the city by bus or train. |

ranger49 Sun Jul 13, 2008 14:51 UTC Glad the tea rooms have been preserved! Came acros an exhibition about Mackintosh in Port Vendres, Languedoc in April with many photos of the tea Rooms! | evaanna Sat Dec 9, 2006 14:05 UTC Great scenery and castles but I must say I liked Burns' cottage best. Of the places you describe I've only been to Linlithgow and seen Wallace Monument from Stirling Castle, still a lot to visit. Excellent informative page with many useful suggestions. | TravellingSpirit Sun Jul 2, 2006 16:26 UTC thanks for your kind comment. I live very close to the places you visited - you'd have been very welcome. | matcrazy1 Fri Apr 29, 2005 15:56 UTC Great suggestions, good info and lots of awesome pictures. i love especially your picture of Dunure castle with bright yellow flowers and sea coast. |
