I can't tell you how happy I was in Nepal, it was one of those countries that you can really fall in love with and feel happy to be there... Even though Kathmandu was very daunting at first, I quickly found my way around and came to love it, I hope you did/will too... |
It is always nice to travel to a country and be able to say a few words of the local language. Nepali is fairly easy to pick up and you will have no problem learning the basics, so here are a few words/sentences to get you started...
Hello/goodbye - Namaste (This is a useful word that you will use a lot!) Excuse me/Pardon/Yes - Hajur (This is one of the most useful words, as it covers a variety of situations) OK - Huncha Thank You - Dhanyabad (Try not to say it too much as it is very formal, the Nepalese don't usually say thank you) I don't understand - Maile bujhina I don't want it - Cahhin daina Very Good/nice - Dherai rahmro Water - Pani Tea - Chia |
