There is so much history scattered about this city and I dont think anyone will find enough time to discover everything rome has to offer.

Rome in a day....

Last time we visited Rome it was en-route to the airport and we decided to see as much of the city as we could in one day and without using public transport, Heres how we got on....

9.30am - After arriving we stored our luggage at the station and made our way on foot down Via Cavour towards the Colosseum, where we spent a few hours inside in the most famous stucture of the Roman Empire.

12.00 - Leaving the Colosseum behind, We headed up Via dei Fori Imperiali past the Roman Forum to the Piazza Venezia, From there we walked up Via della Pilotta head on for the Fontana di Trevi.

1.00pm - We spent half an hour or so at the ever crowded Trevi Fountain before following the tourist trail towards the Spanish Steps.

2.00pm - Finding ouselves a place to sit on the steps was near on impossible but we got a gelato and strolled around Piazza di Spanga before continuing up past the 5 star hotels and designer shops along Via del Babuino towards Piazza del Popolo.

3.30pm - After a quick sit down it was up the winding slope into the gardens on Vllia Borgeshe to admire the view of The Vatican.

4.00pm - A stroll through the parks took us to the bottom and Corso D'Italia, From there we made our way down Via Veneto, past the the famous Café de Paris and Harry's Bar and onto Via Leonida Bissolati.

5.00pm - Finding ourselves at the semi-circular Piazza Della Repubblica we rested our aching feet before making the short walk back to the Termini station to collect our luggage.
where we collect our bags and head to the airport.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Theres a famous sight around every corner.
  • Cons:Its a very modern city build on a museum.
  • In a nutshell:The city breathes history, but they've turned the Coloseum into a roundabout!
