Favorite Thing: See the Palazzo Ducale to the right of the Basilica stands the Palazzo(doge's Palace),once home to Venice's mayor and today the site of one of Venice's finest museums. Rebuilt in the 14th century after a fire,the palace epitomizes the Venetian Gotic with elegant arcades and light colored stone cladding.

Favorite Thing: See the San Marco Piazza......The construction of the Basilica began in the 9th century,when two Venetian merchants stole St Mark's remains from Alexandria and hid them in a barrel of pork to sneak past Arab officials. The Basilica's main treasure is the Pala d'Oro that rest behind the altar Veneto-Byzantine Gold bas relief encrusted with over 3000 precious gems.
