San Diego - America's Finest City. Spend a day or a week - you'll want to come back. If you're going to San Diego, don't go in June. The perpetual JUNE GLOOM may ruin your plans. In June, the fog, rain and clouds never really burn off, causing dreary weather and depressed vacationers. The Gloom usually lasts from June 1st to July 4th. Every other time of the year is great in San Diego. In summer the city and beaches are loaded with tourists, if you can go after September 15, everything is less crowded.
Favorite things to do are: Visit La Jolla Cove. It's a polished village with lots of great places to hang out. Pacific Beach (PB) is fun, but rowdy. Nights in PB are like college dorm partys. Go down Garnett Ave. - the closer to the beach you'll get, the louder it is. Ocean Beach is stuck in a time warp - it must have been this way back in the '60s. A little rougher than PB. Downtown San Diego is happenin'. 5th Ave has dozens of clubs, restaurants, etc. Ole Madrid is by far the most chic.
For beaches, PB, La Jolla & Coronado are the cleanest. Mission and Ocean beach are a little rougher.
