BR0WND0G's Mexico Eclipse

by BR0WND0G - last update: Nov 1, 2000

If you ever get the chance, plan a vacation around a total eclipse. They occur every 18 months, but most are over water. Once in a while, one happens over land, and you should be there to see it. An eclipse is a religious experience that will instantly make you feel like a speck in God's perfect universe.

How an eclipse happens: The sun's diameter is 400 times the moon's diameter, also the sun is 400 times further away from the earth, reducing its apparent size to the same as the moon's. When they are in line, viola, you get an eclipse. Our eclipse in July'91 lasted over 7 minutes, a long one.

Visiting an Eclipse in Mexico was a bonus. The hospitality in Mexico is unsuprassed in the world. The people are friendly and welcome you.
