Love the Look and Feel of the Island | View of Barbados from St. John's |
I have been to several islands in the eastern Caribbean, but for some reason I responded most positively to Barbados. It was the one place that I would like to go back to (although there are plenty of islands I haven't seen YET that I would go to). This island is flatter and less hilly (although there are high points), and it gives the illusion of being much bigger, because you can see so far in several directions. Puffy white clouds in a sky of blue seem perfect here. Maybe it is the strong English "accent" of the island. Maybe it is because this is where I found Mount Gay Rum, possibly the most delicious (though not expensive) rum I have ever tasted. I didn't see as much terrible poverty as I did some other places, though maybe I missed it. And there was my big Anglican church, too, St. John's, I believe, and elegant sugar plantations. |
