Here is an interesting island just east of Puerto Rico divided between French and Dutch culture. We did, in fact, visit both Marigot (French) and Philipsburg (Dutch) in the day that we were there. We also visited a butterfly farm. According to a Wikipedia article "Sint Maarten, the Dutch side, is known for its festive nightlife, beaches, jewelry, exotic drinks made with native rum-based guavaberry liquors, and plentiful casinos, while Saint-Martin, the French side, is known more for its nude beaches, clothes, shopping, and rich French and Indian Caribbean cuisine." It is a lovely Caribbean jewel. |
