"Marjara's Globe-trotting" Marjara's Profile
I am a Punjabi / Indian / Sikh by origin. Amritsar in the state of Punjab is where I was born. I began my working life as a technician airman in the Indian Air Force but my primary interest was literature. I read voraciously. I began reading literature in Punjabi but soon shifted my attention to English literature. I was fascinated by Shakespeare, so much so that I read an edition of his complete plays from cover to cover. I was 22 at that time. I decided to make English literature my career. After doing my Master’s degree I began to teach. I completed my education with a doctorate degree on Milton’s Paradise Lost. After teaching for 38 years in various institutions in India and Canada I laid down my chalk and duster in 1997. Since then I have been enjoying life doing what I wanted to do but had no time for when I was working. Among them is taking at least one trip a year to some part of the world.

Best wishes on your birthday Marjara and warm grretings from Cameroon
Just back from a sweeping tour of some of the important destinations in the southern part of South America. I visited Buenos Aires, then took a boat to Colonia, and a bus to Montevideo. I made a detour to the west to the charming city of Mendoza and then spent three days in Santiago, Chile. Back to the east, I spent about ten days visiting places in Brazil. Rio was scenic and lively on the weekend. Sao Paulo, Brasilia, Salvador, Iguaçu Falls and Curitiba were among the other cities I stopped at.
Welcome to VT. Hope to hear more about your travels.Do you have any plans to visit Stratford-upon-Avon?
Great introduction page...looking forward to reading your well written travel pages!....K.
