Lagos (Lagos State), South-West Nigeria, is a port city and the former capital of Nigeria. It has remained the commercial capital of Nigeria ever since the capital was moved to Abuja in Nigeria's middle belt.
There a numerous tourist attractions in Lagos, as several cities and locations in the state have their own fair share. There are several internationally attractive beaches like the Badagry Beach, the Eleko Beach, the Lekki Beach and the most popular Bar Beach. There are historical sites in Badagry town, for example like the old Slave Trade route, where you find the remains and relics of man's inhumanity to man, such as the ankle, wrist and neck fetters.
Thanks to the present Lagos State Government, most major streets and highways within the state have been planted with flower and all sorts of beautiful decorative trees; everywhere is looking sweet and attractive - not to mention the sustained street lighting at night, which creates a dreamy and comforting effect - arguably for the first time since the colonial days.
The greenness of Lagos has impacted positively to douse the debilitating effect of the so-called Ozone Layer depletion, this time around. Everywhere is looking cool and breezy even in the high, hot sun, such that Nigerians in diaspora, who used to rush back abroad because of the hitherto overwhelming heat, now stay much longer and are even investing in our country, Nigeria.
