I used to live in Newcastle Upon Tyne. The City and the area surrounding the City are possibly one of the most underated and over looked area of Britain as far as tourism is concerned. The area is extreamly rich in History. You may think you recognise the Tyne bridge pictuted opposite. It is a perfect minature of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The story goes that the engineer wanted to build a smaller bridge before he built the Sydney bridge in order to check that his engineering principles were sound. Luckily it seems that they were. The bridge in the foreground is the new millenium bridge. If you walk over the cycle side it looks as if you are walking on air, god knows what it must be like if you cycle over it.

I was wearing my NEWU kit @ the WC in Germany, 2 fellas in red (Sunderland or Southampton?) were excited to razz me. They asked me something but I didnt know how to respond. Something like who are ya? Is there a common greeting between these rivalries?
