Cambodia was a true adventure. I didn't know what to expect but I did know that Cambodia was given 4 stars in an older copy of 'Worlds Most Dangerous Places'. At first the danger element was an attraction for me but when I finally got there I saw that Cambodia was far from the worlds most dangerous place and that the book was all hype. Chechneya, Algeria, Columbia, and any American inner city can be called dangerous but Cambodia is now a top tourist destination for adventure travellers. It's a country rich in history that was stained by one decade of genocide and it's now making a glorious comeback. In February of 1999 we traveled overland from the Vietnamese/Cambodian border to the Cambodian/Thai border...and what an adventure it was!
- Pros:The spectacular & wonderfully preserved temples of ancient Angkor
- Cons:Bad roads, land mines & one legged beggars
- In a nutshell:Enjoy the modern & ancient Khmer culture...just don't step on a land mine!

Your adventures are always fascinating, but this one is touching. "Rag Doll" brought me to tears. Visiting the killing fields was incredible. Your photos of the people are magnificent. You are a true traveler.
