I've just updated my Varanasi travelouge with new photos.
I've been in Calcutta, India the past few days now after spending several days in Dhaka, Bangladesh and four months in South East Asia. It was refreshing to be in India because now I finally feel like I have covered a significant amount of ground on my round the world journey. I am staying on Sudder Street in Calcutta and after being in Dhaka Calcutta actually feels like paradise. Calcutta is a busy city and for some reason in reminds me of Mexico City...though the cities are a world away they are both a huge metropolis, packed with tonnes of people, both have grand old colonial buildings & both have a colonial past, they've both got pretty good metro systems, and in both cities you can find some of the best food in the world! Once my travel partner Jason arrives in Calcutta from Bangkok we will head north to the Himalaya and west towards Pakistan. I hope to have some photos up very soon!

Beautiful pics! I'm headed to India this summer/fall and will visit all three locations. I love getting lost in strange and exotic cities as well. It's the best way to see the locals and to find all the interesting things for yourself.
You and I both spent time in Mexico and India. I just found out that Octavio Paz was Mexico's ambassador to India for six years (!) and his essays IN LIGHT OF INDIA are ... if you are ready for this are "intoxicating". Still in print.
Awesome Pictures!! Love your pages!!
I had the same sensation once I Iayed my eyes on the Taj Mahal. Amazing structure.
Anyway, have you ever experience children was touching you from behind while you were buying some snack, eventhough they never asked, but their reaction of faces is really touchable.
Top page! Absolutely delightful photo`s
Who is that guy on last photo of Varanasi?
