"Unfortunate" Minocqua by goldfrappe

I've been coming up to the north woods my entire life. We have had cabins outside of minocqua, so we would always drive through either on our way there or leaving, or to go for groceries or supplies, or out to eat, or to check out the stores. It's so sad that it's become just another tourist trap, where all these people, especially younger ones just come up to party, get wasted, litter, have no respect and think because it's a town in the woods that they don't have to obey the laws. It's unfortunate to see yet another millionth WalMart, McDonald's or Burger King or another big corporate store or franchise splotched against the beautiful northwoods background. In the summer the town is just littered with tourists and people everywhere, cars, so on. If you're looking for a nice, peaceful, natural, quiet reprieve from your usual loud, noisy, busy city life, well think again, because you won't find it here, since it's been turned into that very same thing. Either keep trekking further up north, find a campsite way out in the deep woods, or keep looking for a different or new place to go, because unless you like to take a vacation where you pretty much go into the same surroundings you're trying to get away from, it's not that great. Most every store is way overpriced. There are a few places that are decent to go out to eat or just to look around, but expect it to be loud and crowded, and at night, it's even worse going into town or into the bars. If you're going to vacation up here, remember that it's not your home, and to have respect for the land and other people or go home.
