I'm not conventional...

Hello World, Welcome to me and my world..I just joined today : ) (01/01/12)

It's the start of a brand spanking New Year '2012' and my new years resolution is far far far Far from the local gym, giving up stuff and vowing to tow the line!
This is a significant year for me as I turn 40 young and I've got to a point in my life where I want and will do and see a lot more...
To start with I'm not conventional. I did everything (to-date) back to front.
I had a relationship (pretty serious) and a baby quite young and then did the career...for 2 - 3 years of late I have been flirting with the idea of travelling and to travel fairly light and for longer periods than just 2 or 3 weeks.

I am, what one would call an 'Essex Girl' but not really (nothing at all like the show)! I grew up in Colchester, Essex UK, (about an hour from London) A nice little town, apparently it's the 'Oldest recorded town in the UK' It's also a Garrison town - One would think it's quite a big town, as town's go, but its quite compact BUT it has a lot to offer, if you know where to look - most people know each other and hang in the same watering holes :-)

Like I said, I have flirted with the idea of travelling and I have been to quite a few places in the world, every place feeds my thirst for more new places, faces and culture as well as architecture and structures (mainly natural sculptures like the white desert in Egypt, phenomenal! ) and not forgetting the under water structures like the Barrier Reef - One day I will get there.
I will tell you about my travels as every place I've been to has turned into an amazing adventure -

Some of the amazing places I have been include..Ireland (photography course) France Paris (The Millennium 2000 adventure including driving the wrong way round in Paris and bootleg run:) Prague, Holland (school trip) Spain, Malaga, Ibiza, (teenage adventure) Portugal (Christmas surfing2010) Malta (Diving) Brazil (Detox Holiday - didn't work, but what an adventure!!) Thailand, Koi Samui (visit friends) Florida, (Disney Cruisline) New York, Cuba ( girlie Holiday-very funny!) St Lucia, Dominican Republic, Dubai, Greece (Zakynthos also known as zanti) ,Tenerife, Gibralter, Cyprus, Egypt (Cairo, Sharm, Hurghada, Deep South ,Marsa Alam, Taba, Nuweiba and Dahab all for Scuba diving, shore and safari) - As I'm a cmas dive master. I love the sea and everything associated with it, generally though, I absolutely love diving in it and if I can help to conserve a tiny part of it, I will.

It looks like I've done a lot already and yes I have and I have been very lucky. My travel's have been spread over 30 years and they only last for 2 or 3 weeks, 4 if I was really lucky.
I generally go where the local's hang, as well venturing off the beaten track, when I'm on my journey's and adventures, to save money and to feel the real ambiance of the place. So, if anyone wants any info' on where I've been, feel free to ask I'll be glad to help you on your way : )
As I said, I've been very lucky so far to venture to the places I have and now this year I will go further a field. I want to start writing about my journeys, to combine the two will be a dream come true. I still have a lot to learn about this but I will do my best - which I think will be a good start.

I wish I found it earlier! I just found this sight yesterday (31/12/11), surfing for info' on malaria tablets for India! - the blog came up on Google...and here I am..Its all meant to be. (i'm sure of it)

This is what ya work hard for, this is what life is all about, planning the next adventure, where ever that may be : )
So, my journey and adventure's begin. I've started planning.
My new destination for 2012 will be India. I'm looking to go for quite a few weeks (end of Feb) I shall see how things go beyond that, so anyone with any info' any tips on India, (Especially, the north-east (Nepal) they would be greatly appreciated : )

London & Paris
VT MEET IN PARIS 21st and 22nd June 2012
Combine London VT meet with Paris – it’s only 2h20min by Eurostar, and join me in Paris.
You’ll have time to visit major sights as well, and join our VT meet on the 21st June (the longest day of the year) for the Fete de la Musique.
This FREE event is not to be missed and you should expect music, dance, local food and many drinks along the way all night long.
Join me also on Friday 22nd June, to continue in the same rhythm – picnic and dancing along the river.
Time and place for both meets TBA.

What's the point of virtual friends if they miss your birthday even if VT does post a reminder. Problem is, it comes up a week in advance & I never know what the date is....hope you had a good one (& don't have a hangover.....
