"St. Lawrence" Gozo by Aunt_Bertha

After Malta itself Gozo is the second largest island of the Maltese archipelago, and as far as I remember Comino is the third. Gozo is more rural than Malta and it is famous for its scenic hills and lovely countryside, and that was my impression as well. Gozo has a population of around 31,000 and can currently only be reached by ferry (that's how my friend Xemx and I traveled there) or by seaplane.

A little bit of historic trivia: supposedly Gozo is the island of Ogygia, one of the places that's featured in Homer's Odyssey.

Xemx and I drove all over Gozo, so I had the chance to see a lot of the island's beautiful scenery, its towns and villages. My favorite village is St. Lawrence as it boasts the breathtaking Azure Window, a truly wonderful place.

• Pros:Beautiful scenery, Azure Window.
• Cons:A little isolated, since it can only be reached by ferry or seaplane from the island of Malta.
• In a nutshell:An azure experience!
