Carcassone is a mysterious, fortified city in the Aude department of the Languedoc-Roussillon area in Southern France. The city is dedicated to Madame Carcas (rumor has it that she may be the Roman noble lady known as Julia Carsaco) who usually stands at Carcassonne's main entrance quietly greeting the visitors.

Cons:Too many tourists.
