In the late 1980s' when I was finishing my studies in Turku, I worked periodically for a tour operator.
For me it was a wonderful opportunity to travel -almost for free- to its destinations.
I just had to pick-up a country from the travel catalogue,fly there and enjoy myself.
As I'm not fond of organized travels, I always visited the local office, met and became friend with the guides and finally ended up with them to avoid the rest of the finnish group...lol!
This was the perfect way, so to say to meet local people and learn about greek lifestyle. Most of these girls were married to a greek and lived on the island.
For two weeks, I had a great time sunbathing, eating my favorite greek food, participating to each and every guided tours (not that painful as they were free for me): cultural and evening dinners,... and all that for FREE (I like that word!!).
I would like to share some of the wonders -present and past- of these two marvellous - thus a bit too touristical for my taste - islands belonging to the dodecanese group (meaning twelve).
