University Chapel

I'd been wanting to go to Princeton for quite a while. Not to check out the Princeton University campus or to pursue the academic life that so many famous people have done here. The list of prestigious people to have studied at Princeton is pretty impressive. Writers such as Edmund Wilson, F. Scott Fitzgerald and John Mcphee who won the Pulitzer Prize for non-fiction, attended Princeton. The NBA star Bill Bradley was here as was former United States Secretary of State, George Schultz. Actors Jimmy Stewart, Brooke Shields and Dean Cain honed their craft here and Chrysler's head man, Lee Iacocca graduated in '46. Former U.S. presidents James Madison and Woodrow Wilson were Princeton men and perhaps most famously, Albert Einstein himself . .. DIDN'T go to college here. That one's a myth. He did live in Princeton for over twenty years until his death in 1955 and he did work out of an office on the Princeton campus, but he was not on the faculty here, nor was he ever enrolled as a student here.

Oh yeah, so why did I want to come all the way to Princeton?

Read on, friend. Read on . . .

The nearby presence of wine, be it shops or -as in my case (Bordeaux)- vineyards, can only inspire good universities. Ah,Einstein was Einstein long before he came to Princeton. Mark, you are not only a traveller, but an outstanding photographer!

Strange that I discovered this page right after I saw Sideways on TV - two guys in a car in search of wine and..... Hope you behaved yourself ;) All the best in the New Year.

Great NJ page. Worth a visit, just to tell people that you've been "through Princeton University"

Mark, so I finally find out what I missed by never getting past the Forrestall Village just outside Princeton! Nice tips here, especially on the University architecture and your great deal at the Wine merchant!

Good page! A friend of mine who teaches math once took me into Einstein's office and wrote e=mc on the blackboard. But I think that's all I saw of Princeton, don't remember any of the other stuff in your tips.
