I guess I owe it to the place of my birth to dedicate a page to all that it has to offer. Minneapolis is more than just a COLD place, although I must admit, the weather is the main reason I don't live there. Despite the blustery weather, Minneapolis is a city that is thriving in many ways. It is an underrated cultural gem, offering high art as well as a more underground, hip, pop-culture, trendy art kind of a scene. The city of lakes is incredibly inviting in the summertime, so if you're planning a visit, aim for June-August.
"It was cold out there, bitter, biting, cutting, piercing, hyperborean, marmoreal cold, and there were all these Minnesotans running around outdoors, happy as lambs in the spring." - - - Charles Kuralt, Dateline America, 1979 |
| | There are good people everywhere and it's never a good idea to pre-judge any strangers, but I can say that Minnesotans are a friendly lot. This particular lady (my mom) is always happy to see me. She even insists that I stay with her and that I eat her food when I'm in town. Thanks, Mom!! |
| | Sometimes it's hard for me to answer the question, "Where are you from?" But when it really comes down to it, I was born in Minnesota and perhaps more importantly, I root for all of the sports teams here, so I guess it's official, I'm a Minnesotan at heart. Go Twins. |

Como Park and Zoo is FREE | b1bob Sun Jun 5, 2005 03:07 UTC Sorry about the lacklustre restaurant experiences. If I know our friend Richie, he'll ask you to adopt him on seeing that Town Hall Brewery tip. | Faracy Mon Aug 23, 2004 03:01 UTC My sentiments exactly... however far away we may go, there will always be some kind of remnant of the city in you... Besides, we know the real meaning of cold... and can appreciate life without it! Spectacular pictures of everything... |
