Getting TO/AROUND: Some call it a metro and others call it a subway, but in Boston it's simply called the 'T'. It's clean, safe and cheap, so hop on board. The lines are color-coded either red, green, blue or yellow and tokens are a dollar each way for any distance with a few rare exceptions to more distant stops. You can also purchase Visitor Passports that allow you unlimited travel for a designated time period. The fare is a reasonble $1.25 which includes free transfers. There are machines at most stops and the attendants will make change for you if you have larger bills. I took the T back from Cambridge to the airport on my September '05 trip and it only took about 20 minutes to go from the Kendall Square stop in Cambridge to the airport (switching at the Gray Line) and still only $1.25!
