My impressions of Boston are packed with great weather, great friends, great sights and great food. All the makings of a great vacation.
Boston is one of the most European cities in the States. On the other hand, its history is richly American. From the the Boston Tea Party to the Boston Massacre, this city was vitally important during the American Revolution and continues to be one of the most important US destinations. |
| | Everyone will tell you that Boston is a great walking city and I found this to be true. However, if your feet are tiring or if you don't get the same great weather that I experienced, you'll also find a useful transportation system, particularly the subway which is known simply as the "T."
The one downside to Boston is that it is extremely expensive to live here. On the other hand, there are plenty of inexpensive (even free) options for the visitor. Also, as compared to Philly, Boston has far less diversity in its population, which might get old after awhile. |
If you only have a few days here like I did, spend the majority of your time in the downtown area, particularly the Back Bay, Beacon Hill and the North End. You'll be struck by the contrasts of old and new and the number of things for you to see and do! | | |
