Hugendubel: Huge bookstore, great view

Name of Shop: Hugendubel
Okay, I must admit that the main reason I went into this enormous bookstore facing Marienplatz was because it had some cool looking elevators! In fact, the view from the glass elevators down onto Marienplatz is great (and free, I might add, unlike what you'll pay for climbing a nearby church tower). The inside is really cool with some interesting architectural touches like this view from the escalators looking down onto a sitting area in the picture below.
What To Buy: They have book on practically everything, including a decent selection of English-language titles.

Viktualienmarkt: Love that market

Name of Shop: Viktualienmarkt
Like I noted in my must see activities, the Viktualienmarkt has been open since 1807 when it opened as a small herb market and is now one of the best markets in the city selling everything from great sausages to fresh flowers and fruits.

geenagee Sat Mar 15, 2008 08:59 UTC Hi Mark! I enjoyed going through your site. It's very well written. I will be going to Munich for a business meeting in July. However I would like to go a few days earlier to be able to do some sightseeing so reading your page was truly helpful. Have fun! | barryg23 Mon May 2, 2005 19:20 UTC Great page Mark, I can't wait to try the beer and sausage breakfast. | Nemorino Sun Apr 17, 2005 21:36 UTC Yes, Munich really is a great bicycle town. Too bad I'll be sitting indoors all next weekend. Sounds like you had a great time in Munich. I like your tips and photos. | gabriellefox Mon Jan 31, 2005 12:08 UTC I will be in Munich this weekend for the international boardshow at ISPO. Great info and pictures to give me a heads up on the place. Cheers. |
