Before I set foot in Poland, I knew that I wanted to visit the Tatras Mountains and Zakopane, so it was with great anticipation that I visited in October of 2005. Zakopane is the most popular base for tourists visiting the mountains in both summer and winter and as a result, it has plenty of good hotels and restaurants. There are some interesting religious buildings here, a nice market and an interesting highland culture that's worthy of exploration. However, I came here for the mountains and hiking on high is what I'll remember most. |

Excellent page Mark, it answers a lot of questiosn I have about Zakopane. I will be there in 2 weeks for a couple of days on my way to Slovakia. Do you think 2 days is enough here? |
