    Walk around Baixa (prounounced, "Bye-shu") and you'll find plenty of shops selling just about everything you can imagine. There are some great deals by US standards on clothes and shoes, but I noticed the photo equipment is expensive in Portugal. This shop is in Praça do Comercio.

    This is the heart of the shopping district in the Coimbra. This was a quiet space on a Sunday morning when I was here, but I'm sure it's busy during the heavy shopping season. As you can see, there are also some nice outdoor cafes where you can enjoy a cafe con leite and watch the shoppers go by.

     This was over 2 years ago, so by now I'm sure you've gotten reconciled to digital photography (the best invention since crunchy peanut butter in my opinion). My visit to Coimbra was on a bicycle tour of Spain and Portugal, quite a few years ago.

     Did u go in summer ? I studies there (erasmus) from september to februari and nightlife was great, especially Via Latina. Maybe you went on a day that they had holidays because it's a vibrant city !
