Cadiz was another one of my unplanned daytrips, although I have to give credit to VT member Sir_Richard for recommending that I visit his birthplace. As you can tell from this photo, Cadiz greeted me with incredibly blue skies and I enjoyed walking around the thoroughly walkable historic center of the city. You can walk down certain streets and see the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Bay of Cadiz on the other and this really makes it feel like a beautiful, isolated island. You'll also have many great photo opportunities of great architecture, public sqares and ancient ruins. |
| | Beauty is in the details I read in a guide book that Cadiz can be a bit dilapidated and this is true. Some of its buildings and streets are less than pristine, but this adds to its charm. I visited on a gloriously sunny day in December so I was free from the crowds and had the time to really take my time wandering and soaking up the atmosphere. Make sure you look for the details. Look up and notice rooftops and windows and flower pots along the walls. |
