The first two days of our Mediterranean trip began in Venice. My initial fears that I had idealized the place in my imagination, a vision propped by movies and photos, were laid to rest as the city is as beautiful as described. I quickly learned to ignore the heat and took in the majesty of the canals, the architecture, the language and the food. I even tested my Italian (sto studiando ancora) to a varying level of success, learning later that the Veneziano dialect is quite different.
Venice, I suspect, will always be one of the most beautiful and unique cities I'll ever see in my lifetime.
