    WONDERFUL historical place!!! It's name goes on the Amazon leader's son, who was drowned in the river. Later Hellens gained the upper hand over them (Amazones), and embarked them to the ships. Amazones captured the ships and came to Meotide (modern Azov sea). In the steppes they met th Skiths, nomadic tribles. So, from the marriage of Skiths and Amazones appeared Savromats. Greeks came to Meotida in VI c. B.C. And the built the town, known as Tanais, existed untill the V c. A.C.
