The key attraction to this sleepy village is the fact that one house is key to the development of modern human knowledge worldwide. Down House was where charles Darwin developed his "Theory of Evolution by means of Natural Selection". The house is now open to the public and has been largely restored to how it was in the days when Darwin was living and working here.
