I used to live in London. I didn't move there until I was 18 and my main (or possibly only) reason was for the nightlife of the west end. In those young days I certainly made the most of that aspect of the city and ran up the debts that go with such a lifestyle. By the time I reached my late twenties both my wallet and I needed a rest and so I moved back to my hometown on the Sussex coast. What I realised after moving away from London is that I had taken for granted, or even ignored, most of the things that draw visitors to the city. Fortunately I only live an hour and a quarter train journey from London Victoria and so can still visit frequently and am starting to discover the bits of the city that I never saw whilst actually living in the middle of it all.
London has some of the most interesting and creative museums and galleries I have found anywhere that I have visited. The British Museum is mind-blowing and the 2 Tate galleries just can't be missed. What is more - many of the top museums and galleries in London are FREE!
London is crammed with historic old buildings and they just sweat out the history of England - from Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London to lesser known places such as Chiswick House and Osterley. London also has a number of newer buildings which also speak the story of the city, from some 1960s monstrosities (in my opinion at least!) to some amazing 21st century buildings such as the Gherkin and the new 'Shard of Glass' being built in Bankside.
- Pros:Oozing with history and things to do
- Cons:The crowds and smells
- In a nutshell:The world's melting pot

I enjoyed Westminster Cathedral...great views from the top! The charge up the tower was refreshing and reasonable from the charge to Westminster Abbey!
London, my favourite city, I never get enough of it and can hardly wait to go back there :D
