To reach Taiping by road

Taiping is easily accessible from the PLUS North-South Expressway. From Penang (90 km) Kamunting Exit is the nearest exit. Travel ahead acros the junction you will first meet a roundabout where you can turn in to the Kamunting Industrial Area or turn into the 12o'clock turn to go straight. You will reach the first satalite town of Taiping, Kamunting.

If you are travelling from South, Changkat Jering is the most convenient exit from the PLUS expressway. Follow the traffic signboard, soon you will arrive at Simpang, the other satalite township of Taiping. Make a right turn to Taiping. Many interesting places and delicious foods are waiting for you.

Taiping is well connected to the rest of Peninsular Malaysia by express buses, which arrive at and depart from the long distance bus station at Kamunting (6 km from the town centre) as well as Simpang (7km from the town centre). Buses also travel direct from Taiping to Singapore and Hat Yai.

Southbound buses usually depart from Kamunting and call along Simpang (Medan Simpang) to pick up a few more passengers from Simpang before heading to the highway via Changkat Jering interchange. Bus tickets are available from counters located at Medan Kamunting and Medan Simpang.

The Kamunting Mosque

Stop at this traffic light junction, if the Kamunting Mosque is at you left, turn right or go straight you may reach Taiping. Turn left, you can go to Batu Kurau, a small town that famous of its durian.

From Simpang to Taiping Town

If you enter Taiping Town from Simpang, after the flyover when you reach the traffic light stop ( HSBC Bank building is at your left ) and in front of you are 3 roads for you to pick.

Where are you going ?

If you are going to Taiping town centre, follow the moving vehicles to right lane, you are on Jalan Kota.

Pick the straight road ahead of you, you are on Jalan Taming Sari, after some distance, the Taiping General Hospital is at your left. If you want to go to town centre, you may turn right at any junction.

At this junction, keep left you may skip the traffic light to turn into the left. You are on Jalan Stesyen. The railway station is in front of you.
