I?m an American ex-pat who has spent almost half of my life in Asia ? studying, working as a teacher, and traveling. I have lived in Chengdu for the past two and a half years in addition to living here for 1 year and 8 months earlier in this decade. I teach English in a local kindergarten and don?t have a social life except for that of friendship with visiting travelers and my students and their families.
I would like to host visitors in China, preferably fellow teachers with a genuine love for children. I have hosted a lot of people since arriving in Chengdu in February 2009. I hope to continue making new friends from around the world. I am especially interested in the experiences of fellow travelers who have been moving by bicycle.
I like reading about alternative communities and mysteries of life here on our planet. I don?t like t.v. but watch some movies when I get bored enough. My own imagination is usually much more creative and positive than the world we live in. I like independent minded travelers who want to explore the world and who are not afraid to be alone.
I believe in home-schooling and would like to teach children privately ? whether it is English or any other subject. I founded a home school for Burmese children living in Thailand and lived with them for a couple of years from 2006-2008. Prior to that I lived the life of an unofficial Peace Corps volunteer ? teaching on my own at Nepalese schools from 1991-1998.
