New York riddle: Which number comes next in this series? 34, 42, 50, 59, 66, 72, 79, 86, 91, 96, 103, 110, ...? Answer: 116, because that's the next station on the IRT Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line. (I always used to get off at 116th Street.)

Re Mass Transit, the lines are grouped together according to which route they share in Manhattan. The difference in designation between letters and numbers goes back a century to when these were all under private ownership and competing with one another.

I would have taken back the tip in that Vietnamese restaurant. Clearly it wasn't deserved. I didn't know parking was free on Sunday?! Never heard about that!
