| | I spent one night in Las Vegas in September 2006. The day before we arrived we were at the Grand Canyon, then the morning before we got to Vegas we drove through Utah, including Zion National Park. After Zion, we cut through the northwest corner of Arizona then into Nevada with a quick trip to Lake Meade and Hoover Dam before finally getting to our hotel around 8pm. We stayed at the Frontier (which is a real dump) on the northern end of the strip. We wandered for a little while before finally getting dinner at the Venetian. Later we stopped at Caesar's Palace and the Bellagio before taking the elevated rail back to the north end of the strip near our hotel. The next morning we were up around 8am heading to Death Valley on our way to our final destination, Monterey, California! |
| | I'm not overly impressed by Vegas' flashy lights and lack of substance. Behind the bright and shiny exterior displayed at places like the Strip is the dark and filthy underbelly of society. Nothing here is as it might appear at first glance. |
