Seaside, a town just north of Monterey near the Monterey Bay, is not on the sea, the bay, the ocean, nor any other body of water. The incorporated area of Seaside parallels the water for about 4 miles, but only has a tiny 1/10 of a mile long stretch of beach front. Most of Seaside is blocked from the sea by the town of Sand City, and to the north Fort Ord Dunes State Park lies between Seaside and the sea.

I live in Monterey and occasionally venture to Seaside for some of their unique restaurants and shops along the town's two main commercial routes: Del Monte Blvd and Fremont Street. This areas is full of hotels, restaurants, shops, and more including Korean markets, Vietnamese restaurants, and the long strip of car dealerships and repair shops. It seems like there is more shopping along these two busy routes in Seaside than in all of Monterey.
