Sand City is an interesting little town that many pass through but few really notice. The town stretches about 1 1/2 miles along Monterey Bay, but most of the town's area actually extends out into the bay. In the roughly half square mile of land area in Sand City you will find only about 300 residents, but around 5,000 people come here each business day to work in the art galleries, warehouses, light industry, as well as the handful of big stores in two shopping centers. It is estimated that 50,000 people are drawn to this small town each day to shop or conduct other business.

All of Sand City's homes and businesses, except for two small industrial areas, are located on the east side of Highway 1. The town is surrounded on three sides by Seaside and on the fourth is the Monterey Bay.

I drove past Sand City several times without giving it much notice. I’ll have to check it out next time I am in the area. The West End Celebration looks like it is well worth attending. Perhaps I’ll stop for lunch at the Ol' Factory Cafe.
