| Seach Over! Bliss Found in SLO! |
| | San Luis Obispo is home to a major modern university and a historic Spanish mission. It is also just a few miles from some beautiful beach towns such as Morro Bay and Pismo Beach. The city was founded with the establishment of Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa in 1772. Today about 45,000 people live in SLO, and the city is known for its history and college nightlife. College students are abundant as Cal Poly has almost 20,000 students at this superb university established in 1901. |
| | In January 2008, we took a day trip from Monterey down to San Luis Obispo. On the way we stopped at Mission San Antonio at Fort Hunter Liggett, Hearst Castle, and Morrow Bay. We arrived in SLO around 7pm, checked into our hotel, then went out to explore the town, grab dinner, then get a few drinks. Our first stops were the old Spanish mission and Bubblegum Alley, before hitting up Mo's BBQ for dinner. Later we stopped at Bull's, The Downtown Brewing Company, and McCarthy's for some drinks. The next morning we got up and went back to the mission to look inside, we checked out SLO's old Chinatown neighborhood, and we drove around the Cal-Poly campus for a bit before heading off to Morrow Bay, San Miguel, Soledad, and back to Monterey. |
