Traps and Sticks are the two bars at Spanish Bay in Pebble Beach. I have never been to Sticks, but Traps is a fancy little bar with a big fireplace, historic photos on the walls, and expensive drinks. I have stopped into Traps two or three times for drinks, and the place is always pretty quiet, usually with just a few individuals and maybe a small group of guests. The staff is attentive, as they should be for drinks that cost twice as much as in town. We've had Irish coffees for about $10 (now $12 in 2008!!!), beers are about $8 or $9, and a mojito ran us $15.50. Traps makes a nice stop for a nightcap after dinner at Roy's, but I wouldn't make this the destination of an evening out.

Sunset Bagpiper at Spanish Bay

Spanish Bay's Terrace Lounge is a great spot to catch a sunset over the Pacific Ocean. The Lounge has a comfortable inside area with huge plate glass windows, a fireplace, and some live music, along with a huge outdoor area with six or eight massive gas fire pits with concrete benches. Both are considered the same bar, despite offering completely different environments for guests. The inside is certainly classier and warmer, while the outside is more comfortable and casual. As the weather cools off, the staff will bring towering arm loads of blankets to keep guests warm and happy. The staff here is excellent, and the drink excellent (and expensive) as could be expected. An average beer is around $8 while mixed drinks start around $15, and appetizers like the excellent cheese plate are about $25. For an extra special treat, show up before sunset and watch the sun drop into the ocean as the bagpiper come out to play Amazing Grace and other songs.
