Amsterdam has some great historical attractions such as the Rijksmuseum and Anne Frank's House. It also has miles and miles of scenic canals that will certainly catch your eye.

On the flip side, Amsterdam is Europe's most liberal city for many reasons. It has open legalized prostitution (many other European countries also have legal prostitution, but nowhere in Europe is it so open!), legalized drug use, and a huge, open homosexual population. These have become tourist attractions in their own right (Like the "Homomonument" -- no kidding).

Fortunately, there seem to be few problems between the "conservative" traditional tourist activities and the "liberal" tourist activities. In fact, they appear to meld together in a unique harmony that only Amsterdam could offer.
