Schloss Vaduz, or Vaduz Castle, sits on the edge of the mountain overlooking the town of Vaduz and the Rhine River Valley. The castle was originally built in the 1100s, but unfortunately it was destroyed by the Swiss in the late 1400s. The castle was rebuilt in the 1500s and has been the Liechtenstein Royal Residence since independence in 1815. The walk to the castle takes no more than 20 minutes and offers a spectacular view over the town and into Switzerland.

Things To Do: Church built on Roman Ruins

This small, white church to the north of Vaduz was built on the site of Roman Ruins. Upon approaching, you will see the ancient Roman stone foundation on one side of the church. It is marked with a small white sign that shows the original layout of the Roman building and where the church sits today. In the church yard, you can trace the old foundation of the Roman building, as it is marked in the grass with lines of stone.
