| | London is a great European city. For Americans it is comfortable, familiar, historic, and easy to get around. Americans are very familiar with this history and culture of England, so it is easy to visit and learn more about places and faces we already recognize like Westminster Abby, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and the Tower Bridge. London also has its less familiar sites and neighborhoods that made a visit interesting and exciting. |
| | London has existed for over two thousand years, originally established as Londinium by the Romans. With nearly eight million people in the city and up to 14 million in the metropolitan area, London is the largest city in the European Union and is home to some 100 of the EU's 500 largest companies. London, the capital of the United Kingdom, has the world's busiest airport and one of the best public transportation systems in the world. |
