I spent just one night in Kilkenny in 2000. We drove to Kilkenny from Dublin, then moved on the next morning to the Rock of Cashel. The night we spent in Dublin, the Kilkenny Gaelic Hurling team had just won the national championship. The same night we arrived in Kilkenny, so did the Gaelic Hurling team... and they arrived to a huge celebration! |

| | The town Kilkenny is the second largest tourist area of Ireland after Dublin. The medieval downtown with its charming narrow streets is flanked by the Kilkenny Castle to the south and St. Candice's Cathedral to the north. |

| | My visit During my trip to Kilkenny, we arrived in the evening, and took a walk around the castle. Our next stop was to find a B&B, which I think was on James Street, upstairs from a large pub. That night, we had dinner, then wandered around High Street and Market Yard celebration sites. Our last stop of the night was the pub where we had our room.
The next morning, we toured the Cathedral then took a look at the Kilkenny brewery, then drove onward to the Rock of Cashel. |
