"Wurzburg" Würzburg by Ewingjr98
Würzburg Travel Guide: 353 reviews and 1,186 photos
Wurzburg is a large city in south-central Germany about 75 miles from Frankfurt. It is famous for its large university, the great wine, and two large castles called Marienburg and The Residenz. Marienburg is the ancient and historic residence of the prince-bishops while The Residenz is their newer home. The other great attraction in Wurzburg is St Kilians Cathedral dating from 1045 AD.
We visited late in the afternoon on a rainy, overcast day, so my photos are all dark and gloomy. Unfortunate, because Wurzburg, is known for being such a happy, carefree town.
