My first and only trip to Dusseldorf was May 26-27 2000. We took the short train ride from Bitburg via Gerolstein. We arrived fairly late in the afternoon, had difficulty finding a hotel, then went out and enjoyed the nightlife in the Altstadt. The next day, we went sightseeing for half of a day, then returned to Bitburg via Bonn.

Anybody have money for the cab?

Dusseldorf is in the heart of Germany's industrial area, but manages to maintain old-world charm throughout the Altstadt. The main area for tourists is the Altstadt & its historical buildings. In the area around Altstadt, look for Konigsalle -- Dusseldorf's high-class shopping area, and the museums around the Hofgarten park.
