I spent 29 hours in Taipei on my way from Okinawa to Seoul in October 2003. I worked my airline reservations specifically so I could visit this city. Overall, Taipei is a modern city, similar to Seoul. It has about 6 million people, but most roads are wide and minimally congested. Prices are very inexpensive if you eat your meals on the street. The people are friendly and the women are stunning. Nightlife is good, but a little seedy in the Zone.
- Pros:Clean, modern city; good prices if you shop; a boon for temple lovers
- Cons:Nightlife is a little suspect in places; sometimes too western
- In a nutshell:Worth a side trip, but only for a few days!

I hope you get this within the next few hours. I am flying out to TPE on the 13th and I was wondering what bus you took from TPE into Taipei. I'll be staying at Section 1, Lane 56, #2, Zhong Shan North Road, Taipei City, Taipei County, Taiwan 104.
Looks like it was a busy 29 hours. You managed to get a lot of sight seeing in during your visit and made a nice page as a result.

Helpful Taiwan page. I visited years ago and kinda liked it a bit better than Hong Kong. Didn't see the snake alley but surely relieved I didn't (huge snake phobia)! BTW the Taiwan countryside is peaceful in comparison (e.g. Sun Moon Lake). Thanks.
